Hike review: Great! Lovely and various scenery, gentle trails, interpretive signage, and relatively short. It was a pretty humid day, so was also happy for periodic shade. There were a fair number of people there – it was the holidays, and Fort Pulaski is a short drive from Savannah. However, people and dogs were well-behaved, and a good time was had by all!

Built as a state-of-the-art, impenetrable fortress after the War of 1812, by the time of the Civil War rifled cannons made Fort Pulaski’s fortifications obsolete, and it fell after 30 hours of siege. Thankfully, there was very little bloodshed at the fort, which gives a visit a light, curious feel while exploring the grounds. A wonderful addition to a Savannah visit!
